This is the most famous surf spot at the north cost of the Dominican Republic. It is a 15 minutes-drive away from Cabarete. Due to the size of the waves, and the way they break (small white waves off the beach, then small breaking waves further out before a real peak of faster (sometimes tubing) waves, it suits to beginners , advanced such as experts. It is a reef break. The beach is probably one of the nicest around, the feeling of being lost on a very special and isolated island incomparable, and starting your day with a surf session in Encuentro is probably one the nicest thing in the world.

The Dom. Rep. has warm water, and warm air, all year round. No wetsuit is necessary, although sun protection like lycra is always good. Mid September to mid December: great rain season. Recommended wind for kitesurfing is wind coming from E . There is Trade wind at Encuentro, Dominican Republic. The wind here is typically diagonally sideshore from the right and the waves break approx. 50-100m before the bank. This spot is one of the best locations for extremely high jumps and wave riding. In the mornings no wind, about noon it picks up. Wind usually blows from E on the spot. The best moments to come to Encuentro, Dominican Republic are February, March, April, May, June, July, August and September .
Beach and Tide Conditions
Encuentro, Dominican Republic is a Shallow, Small waves and Medium waves spot. The launching/landing area is reported to be of Medium size. Sandy beach, relaxed atmosphere. Enough space and not crowded with people. You can enter the water at the surf schools and at the restaurant/bar. Shallow water with a reef near the shore that guarantees great, but easy going waves. This makes great wave rinding possible and high jumps. Depending on the season waves up to 4m high.
